Stuff I find online

Thanks for reading

I have switched my blog sites. Thank you for reading. Now just go to my new page which looks alot like this one. You can click go here to check it out. Thanks, and thanks to Colleen for helping me and answering my questions.

Follow up to a good cause

What a day. A while back I posted about Save Darfur, a charity trying to stop the genocide in the African city of Darfur in The Sudan. Well, my friend Mohan at Blogforpeace.org stumbled onto it and mentioned it in his blog. I am excited because this is the first time I have been mentioned in someone else’s blog. I will be changing soon to www.willifordblog.com so I hope all of my readers will update your links and come with me. Have a good day.

What I found in Wal-Mart

After reading in Denis’ Blog, Target Culture the post about the Nazi Shirts at Wal-mart I decided to check it out on my next visit to Wal-Mart. Well, that happened to be last night and sure enough, right there in the mans T-Shirt section was the T-Shirt for sale with a Skull and crossbones used by the Nazi’s befre and during World War II. I’m really suprised that more people or religious groups haven’t brought this to Wal-Mart’s attention. Denis said that Wal-Mart had pulled the shirts but he’s on the West Coast and I’m here on the East so maybe news hasn’t traveled this far yet (though we’re closer to Arkansas so it should’ve). And if any of my local readers are reading this, I found it in the Wal-Mart in my county closest to me (ok, I’ll just say it. It was seen in Lumberton Wal-Mart). Go check out the post on Target Culture to see the picture of the shirt.

A good cause

Ok, I know I’m not usually the one into saving the world (I usually leave that side of my personality out of my blog) that distinction usually goes to my friend Mohan at Blog for Peace but I saw a commercial talking about the genocide thats happening in The Sudan. The first page of the website for them Save Darfur has a petition to President Bush that you can sign. It goes like this and you should definitely go check it out and put your name in the petition:

President Bush, Every day, the 2.5 million people chased from their homes in Darfur face the threat of starvation, disease, and rape, while the few lucky enough to remain in their homes risk displacement, torture and murder. Therefore, we call on you to do the following:

  • Strengthen the understaffed and overwhelmed African Union peackeeping force already in Darfur.
  • Push for the deployment of a strong UN peacekeeping force.
  • Increase humanitarian aid and ensure access for aid delivery.
  • Establish a no-fly zone.

My New Blog

Ok, so after much procrastination I have finally decided to change my blog and host it. For lack of a better name I used the domain name I already had and had redirected here. Everyone who reads my blog go ahead and change your bookmarks and blogrolls to www.willifordblog.com (I know, not very original) Thanks to Colleen for helping me find Verve Hosting and helping me set it up soon. Hopefully you won’t see much of a change but maybe one for the better. Thanks for reading.

Switching Soon

Ok, so I got an email from wordpress support saying my blog would be deleted if I did any PayPerPost postings. That sucks but it’s ok because I haven’t done any yet. I guess my plan to host my blog is getting moved up so I have a few questions for you guys that have hosted wordpress blogs. 1.) Who do you use to host and are you happy with them? I’m looking for someone reliable yet fairly inexpensive. Also, can you help me come up with a cool domain name. I want something unique (obviously) and cool. I look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to answer in a comment. Thanks

Internet Explorer 7 and Office 2007

Internet Explorer 7 showed up in my automatic updates this week. I’ve been using IE7 for almost a year now and I love it. I’ve never really used Firefox before so I can’t compare it to anything but I do know that I love IE7. I love the tabs and how you can have multiple websites open in one window (I currently have 3 open in this one). Some of the security issues are kind of iffy but all in all, I totally recommend it. If you haven’t installed it I totally recommend you go here and do that. I’ve also been using the test copy of Microsoft Office 2007 but it’s a little confusing. The main difference I’ve noticed is that the menu bar is gone and you have to really search for commands to figure out what you want to do. Of course as I say this and look through the Microsoft website I’ve found a demo video showing you how to use the new office inter face. I’ll have to check that out. I think for now I’ll stick with Office 2003 for now. Tell me what you think.

What a day for my blog

I had a record day in my blog. I had 71 page views (my previous high was 38) and went over 1000  total views. Also, my stats have changed even though the little icons on the right are the same. My Blog Juice is 0.3 and my seomoz page strength is 1.5. I know you don’t care about this stuff but I was excited by it. The big news of the day was the firing of the UNC coach so I reported on that. Thanks to everyone who has read my blog and keep on reading.

you’ll love this

So I was reading a blog that I love, Sameness is a Waste (check it out you’ll love it too) and I found this post. I copied it from her so check out her site. I just had to put it here because it made me laugh. Follow the instructions below. If you want to copy it from me just give me a shout out and a link.

1. Go to google.com [not from your search bar on your browser – go to the
actual homepage]
2. Type in “failure”.
3. Hit “I’m feeling lucky”
…and trust me it’s a good one.

More PPP Haters

Ok, I’m a happy PayPerPost member even though I’m not able to get paid yet. I’ve met some really cool people and found some really cool blogs thanks to them.(check out page 2 of my blog) Apparently alot of people still are hating on PPP and I don’t quite get it. I just discovered that some guy with ads all over his site is ranting about them and us. He even went to Colleen’s blog and copied her PPP Blogroll into his post called “More PayPerPost Blogs to Avoid” I think thats awfully low but thats another link to my blog on his site so I’m all for it. I wish people would get a life. Some of my fellow posties posted comments like:

“Thanks for the link; the more exposure and inbound links my blog gets, the better” Justin

and

“There’s no such thing as bad publicity. Thanks for the link!” The Media Blog

Go to this guys website if you must and you’ll see ads for places like Performancing Partners, and gapingvoid.com (I don’t know what they are so I’m not going to link to them). Thanks for the link to my page and Grow up and as Laura says “What grade are we in again?” (I love the layout Halloween theme of your blog Laura, go check it out)
